Portakabin was chosen to provide a building constructed using its Portakabin Design and Build solution. This off-site modular option reduced the impact of construction work on site and prevented disruption to Air Liquide’s operations in adjacent buildings. The 630m² office building was designed with built-in flexibility to accommodate a third storey to meet the company’s future expansion requirements. The use of off-site construction ensured the building was ready in good time for the planned relocation. In fact, the new offices were completed just three months after work began start on site – and a month ahead of schedule.

Terry Humphrey of Air Liquide UK, says: “The fact that the building was delivered four weeks ahead of schedule was brilliant. We were already working to a tight programme so early completion was excellent. The cranage was carried out over a weekend as Coleshill is such a busy site. There was no disruption whatsoever to our operations and the installation process went very smoothly, despite working in the depths of winter.”

The new air-conditioned building comprises both open-plan and cellular offices, a reception area, meeting room, kitchen, stairway and lift. It features a pitched roof and brickwork cladding to give the appearance of a traditionally constructed building.
